A fake cover of a German newspaper about the losses of the Armed Forces in the battles in Kurshchyna

The operation of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region became so unexpected for the Russian authorities and propaganda that the Russians are trying to stamp fakes in order to twist the situation in their favor and declare the failures of the armed forces.

In particular, the cover of the allegedly German newspaper Handelsblatt, which shows a road sign with the inscription “Kursk” and dozens of crosses on graves with helmets with Ukrainian chevrons, is being distributed in pro-Russian telegram channels. Like, is such a “price” justified for the seizure of the Kursk region.

However, this cover is actually a fake, because the Handelsblatt edition did not issue an issue with such a front page. Read the details in our material.

Fake

The cover, which is being distributed by propagandists, seems to be from the issue of the newspaper under number 164 for August 23-25, 2024. “The Armed Forces seized the territory of Russia. What is the price of the temporary occupation of the Kursk Region”, the propagandists write in the original language as if written on the cover. “Very symbolic. And the main thing is to emphasize: the occupation is temporary,” the propagandists emphasize.

In reality, none of the issues of the Handelsblatt newspaper has such a cover and such a headline. The publication is published from Monday to Friday, and August 24-25 is Saturday and Sunday. The actual issue of the newspaper, numbered 164, was published on August 28, 2024 and has a completely different cover. http://surl.li/tjrcgs

The reaction of Russian propaganda to the success of the Kursk operation of the Ukrainian military is similar. After all, the Armed Forces crossed the border and entered the territory of Russia in the Kursk region more than a month ago. Currently, they hold more than a thousand square kilometers, dozens of villages and the district center of Suju there. There was no such thing in Russian history for 80 years.

We should also note that this is not the first fake with the covers of the Handelsblatt newspaper. Earlier, we already refuted the information about the “fake cover of the German newspaper Handelsblatt about Zelenskyi and the unattainable NATO”. http://surl.li/jexjt

And also “about the cover of the publication “HANDELSBLATT” with a caricature of Zelensky, who is “killed” as Caesar.” http://surl.li/tmzbi

And also about the “cover with a bloody Ukrainian passport in a torn hand” http://surl.li/hmdjkn

CONCLUSIONS

The German newspaper Handelsblatt did not publish covers with what appear to be graves of Ukrainian soldiers against the background of the road sign “Kursk”. Propagandists are trying to hide the failure of the Russian army in Kurshchyna, shifting the emphasis to the losses of the Ukrainian army and downplaying the successes of the Armed Forces.

In addition, agitprop in this way promotes the narrative to the domestic Russian audience that the occupation of the Kursk region is temporary and will not last long. At the same time, during the month of the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region, Russia lost about 6 thousand soldiers killed and wounded. It is thanks to this operation that there is no threat of a Russian attack on Sumy, President V. Zelenskyi said at a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the Rammstein format. http://surl.li/xtjxid
