Fake that Poles affected by the flood could not check into the hotel because of refugees from Ukraine

Russian propagandists continue their campaign to discredit Ukrainian refugees abroad, trying to sow enmity between Ukrainians and residents of European states.

Thus, agitprop spread a post that the Poles, who were evacuated due to a large-scale flood, could not settle in comfortable conditions in one of the hotels, because all the seats in it were occupied by refugees from Ukraine. As evidence, the Russians cite a screenshot of a Facebook post by a Polish woman allegedly affected by the flood.

However, the woman did not write such a post. It was faked by propagandists with the help of photo editors. Then we tell in more detail.

Fake

Due to the powerful cyclone that passed through Central Europe, several countries, including Poland, were badly affected by the flood. http://surl.li/crtcgv

Poland also ranks second in terms of the number of refugees from Ukraine accepted. http://surl.li/hktubh

Propagandists took advantage of this situation and invented a fake that the Poles, who were evacuated due to the flood, were accommodated in a cold room in one of the local schools, since all the places in the hotels were occupied by Ukrainian refugees. Like, a resident of Poland who suffered from the flood wrote about it on Facebook.

The woman adds that her daughter fell ill with pneumonia due to the cold and lack of clothing. Now she is asking volunteers to bring medicine for the child and hopes that “responsible persons will explain why refugees have better conditions than local residents,” the propagandists’ post says in the original language.

The post is also accompanied by a photo showing sleeping places for evacuees.

In fact, the woman did not make such a post. Her Facebook profile is open, so we found the original post. It contains an announcement that Primary School No. 3 in the city of Kłodzko is ready to receive flood evacuees. http://surl.li/ypijcn

“We need water, warm food, blankets and everything that will help the evacuees survive in the near future,” the post reads. It also indicates that the room is cold. There is no mention of hotels occupied by Ukrainian refugees in the post.

CONCLUSIONS

Propagandists faked the post of a resident of Poland, who posted an announcement about the start of receiving people affected by the flood, and passed her off as a woman who allegedly sought shelter in a hotel.

Similar posts are intended for a Polish audience. With their help, propagandists put refugees from Ukraine in a negative light in order to make Poles and Ukrainians quarrel.
