Russian propaganda “accused” two servicemen of the 80th separate brigade, whom it called “militants,” of torturing and abusing a man in Lviv region. For such an “accusation,” the Kremlin’s information workers did not need real facts or court records, but only falsified a real publication with similar content in one of the Lviv region’s publications, which talked about a similar crime, but there was not a word about the servicemen.
Fake
The Center’s specialists have already reported in the analytical material “How Russian propaganda uses Ukrainian media for fakes about “crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” about the scheme of propagandists with informational inserts about alleged crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against civilians in various regions of Ukraine. The fakers falsified headlines in the media, usually regional ones.
This time, a similar scheme was used to accuse the alleged soldiers of the 80th Infantry Brigade.
The Russian propaganda resource “Ukropsky Fresh” published a “news” accusing “militants” of torturing a civilian. The basis of the falsification is the edited headline LVIV.MEDIA, which in the original reads: “Two residents of the Lviv region tortured a man with pliers over theft in a cemetery.”
The propagandists changed it to: “Two soldiers tortured a man with pliers over theft in a cemetery.”
The falsification of the publication of this particular publication is also evidenced by the details of the page design, namely: the column “News of the Lviv region,” the color of the column’s inscription, the author’s photo and surname, the black color of the page, and a similar photo.
In their text, the propagandists also used part of the original material, but attributed all the criminal actions to the military. This is a lie.
