On September 23, 2025, the UN General Assembly was held in New York. During this event, several statements were made by the current US President Donald Trump, where he demonstrated his greater support for Ukraine than before. In particular, he stated that under certain circumstances Ukraine could regain territories within the 1991 borders. This caused active movements on Russian propaganda resources – the Kremlin’s information criminals manipulatively twisted Trump’s words and stated that he actually meant that… he was leaving Ukraine. Why this is manipulation – read on.
MANIPULATION
One of the top Russian propaganda resources “Ukropsky Fresh” spread a post that was picked up by small scavengers with the following content: “What does Trump’s “pro-Ukrainian” statement mean? In short, nothing good for Ukraine. If earlier Trump tried (or pretended to try) to agree on peace or a ceasefire, now the situation has changed. In fact, the US president said that he was washing his hands: “Ukraine, with the SUPPORT of the EU, can reach the borders of 91 and go further, why not. Figure it out for yourself, ask for help from Europe, good luck to you, good luck to everyone, hang in there, good mood.” So this is not a 180-degree turn towards supporting Kyiv. This is self-exclusion from participation in the conflict. And Zelensky, who considers this to be words of support and is waiting for “security guarantees after the war,” is now encouraged and will fight further…” https://surl.li/rpbqgk
The real statement of the US president sounds different.
In the original, Donald Trump said: “After I learned and fully understood the military-economic situation of Ukraine/Russia, and seeing the economic problems that this causes Russia, I think that Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is able to fight and return all of Ukraine to its original form. With time, patience and financial support from Europe, and in particular NATO, a return to the original borders from which this war began is quite possible. Why not?”
And further:
“Putin and Russia have BIG economic problems, and it is time for Ukraine to act. In any case, I wish both countries well. We will continue to supply weapons to NATO so that NATO can do with them what they want. Good luck to everyone!” https://surl.li/qfgmbv
So the meaning of Trump’s words is completely different. The propagandists took out of context only one sentence, where the US president speaks only about European support for Ukraine. However, as we see in this full sentence, he also speaks about NATO support. And NATO is broader than Europe. And NATO includes the United States. So, Trump indirectly speaks about US support for Ukraine, as a key player in the North Atlantic Alliance.
This is confirmed in the second part of the statement of the head of the White House, where he directly says that “we”, that is, the USA – will continue to supply weapons to NATO countries, so that they can then be transferred to Ukraine.
As they say – no comments! Russian propagandists gave wishful thinking, manipulated the words of the US president.
