A fake about the fact that in Lutsk the church of the UOC MP was taken away and turned into a laundry

Russian propaganda continues to spread narratives about “godless” and “sinful” Ukrainians, as well as about the “oppression” of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine. This time, in response to the adoption of a law banning religious organizations associated with Russia (http://surl.li/uxelbm), propagandists are spreading information that in Lutsk, the UOC MP allegedly took a temple and converted it into a laundry. As “proof”, agitprop adds a photo of the corresponding building to the posts.

However, no one in the Mospatratriarch in Lutsk took the premises of the church and did not turn it into a laundry. What is actually shown in the photo – read on.

Fake

“In Lutsk, the Orthodox Church, selected from the UOC, Bandera pig dogs were converted into a laundry room,” the agitators write in the original language. In the photo attached to the post, you can see a church-like building with a sign at the entrance “Clean-ta Laundry”. It is obvious that the photo was taken during the opening, because the doors of the building are decorated with festive balls.

However, the original photo was not actually taken in Lutsk, but in Ternopil Oblast last fall. And what is depicted in the photo is not the temple of the Moscow Patriarchate, but the bell tower of the Greek-Catholic Church of the Sending of the Holy Spirit in the city of Terebovli. There, in November 2023, with the support of the “Caritas-Ternopil” charitable foundation, a social laundry was solemnly opened. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Terebovlyan City Council and a photo was published, which was used by the propagandists for their fake. http://surl.li/skzwmt

The laundry was opened in the parish office of the church, which won a mini-grant within the project “Development of social service for community cohesion to support IDPs and vulnerable groups at the parish level”, supported by CNEWA Canada and Renovabis.

By the way, propagandists removed the very word “social” from the sign with the help of a photo editor.

CONCLUSIONS

In Lutsk, they did not take the premises of the UOC MP and convert it into a laundry. The photo spread by the propagandists was taken in the Ternopil region, and the project to create a laundry was implemented with grant funds in the premises of the office of the Greek-Catholic church.

Propagandists are trying to discredit the law banning the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine and show how Ukrainians “persecut” the Russian Church with fake fake posts. After all, Russians consider only their church to be “true”, and the Ukrainian church to be “satanic”, so in this way the Russians justify their crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine.
