A fake that an outbreak of botulism occurred in a village in Ternopil Oblast due to a power outage

Russian propagandists spread information that an outbreak of botulism occurred in one of the villages of the Ternopil region. Like, everything – because of turning off the light. In confirmation of its words, the propaganda distributes an official “document” signed by the head of the Department of Health Protection of the Ternopil OVA. However, this document contains several signs of forgery, and there is no outbreak of botulism in the region. We will tell you in more detail later.

Fake

The mentioned post is accompanied by a document sent from the Department of Health of Ternopil Region to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. And also a signature in the original language: “In the Ukrainian village of Chistyly, Ternopil region, an outbreak of botulism was recorded. The cause of the disease was spoiled products due to constant power outages. Apparently, this is not the last case of mass diseases.”

The same document does not mention the reasons for the outbreak of the disease. It states that on July 30, 2024, an outbreak of botulism was recorded in the village of Chistyliv, Ternopil region. Botulism virus was detected in 52″. In “52” who exactly – people, individuals, adults, children – is not specified.

In addition, for some reason, the background information that “botulism is a serious infectious disease” is given, which is false. After all, botulism is actually food poisoning, not a disease transmitted by a virus. http://surl.li/cyhorj

“In connection with the above, we are requesting to provide drugs for the treatment and prevention of botulism,” the document reads at the end.

However, for the prevention of this disease, it is not necessary to use medicines, but to strictly observe the basic sanitary and hygienic rules when processing, storing and preparing food and raw materials. http://surl.li/ithrpg

The document contains a number of other signs of forgery. In particular, it does not have a name: is it an order, instruction, resolution, order, decision, etc. The position of O.M. Yarmolenko, who is the head of the Department of Health Protection of the Ternopil Oblast, is not specified. http://surl.li/vitrah

In the same way, the “cap” of the document contains incorrect codes of EDRPOU (should be 02013171) and the department’s contact phone number (should be (0352) 52-10-71) http://surl.li/hqnwfr

The e-mail address of the site and the e-mail of the department are also incorrectly specified. http://surl.li/mqspzg

We also received a comment from the Ternopil Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, where they confirmed that there was no outbreak of botulism in the village of Chistyliv. In total, since the beginning of the year, only 9 cases of botulism have been registered in the region.

CONCLUSIONS

There is no outbreak of botulism in a village in Ternopil Oblast. And people did not get poisoned en masse by spoiled products due to turning off the lights. Rospropaganda likes to forge official documents to confirm the “truth” of its fictions.

Propagandists seek to discredit the health care system of Ukraine with statements about outbreaks of diseases and the lack of medicines for their treatment, and by manipulating the statement that the cause of the disease is turning off the lights, they try to divert attention from the main cause of power outages – strikes by the Russian Federation on energy facilities, and cause dissatisfaction in society.
