New year – new fakes. But about “old” topics. Because the propaganda was a little under-fantasy. However, she falsified it. In Poland, male citizens of Ukraine, who are in this country, began to receive, allegedly, “summons” for military service. The letters came on behalf of the Office for Foreigners of the Republic of Poland. They urged Ukrainians to volunteer for military service, otherwise they would face legal responsibility and extradition. Why this is a fake and its details – further in the material.
Fake
The forgery states the following: “In accordance with the norms of the current legislation of Ukraine, in particular the Law of Ukraine “On Military Service”, as well as in connection with the mobilization, taking into account that you are a citizen of Ukraine, we inform you that on December 17-31, 2024 we plan conduct a visit to your place of residence (…) The purpose of this visit is to take you to the mobilization point in connection with military service in the Armed Forces Forces of Ukraine”.
A scanned copy of one of these letters was published by the Polish Office for Foreigners.
It states that failure to appear at the mobilization point may result in the issuance of an arrest warrant and extradition to Ukraine.
However, this is not true. The Office for Foreigners issued a statement in which it emphasized that it was not the author of these letters.
“In connection with the received reports about false letters to citizens of Ukraine, the Office for Foreigners Affairs explains that it is not the author of these summonses,” the department emphasizes. http://surl.li/luiizh
This is not the first and, unfortunately, not the last such fake. Actively, similar fakes began to spread at the beginning of 2023, when an active mobilization company was deployed and as part of Ukraine’s preparation for a large-scale counteroffensive.
A year ago, in January 2024, Oleksiy Danilov, the Secretary of the NSDC, said that Ukraine would like to return conscripted citizens who are abroad, but “it will not be possible to do it by force.” He said this in an interview with the Eastern European bureau Report. http://surl.li/nwmfmg
“We understand that a person who is in the territory of another country is also subject to the laws of that country. We would like them to return, but we cannot force it. If a citizen officially has the status of a refugee who suffered from military aggression, we will not be able to intervene. After all, every country has its own laws regarding people with refugee status,” said Danilov.
As for the possibility of attracting Ukrainian men who are in Poland to the ranks of the Armed Forces, the legal basis for this was laid by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk on July 8, 2024 in the “Agreement on cooperation in the field of security between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland”. http://surl.li/cfafnz
The document describes the possibility of creating a new Ukrainian volunteer unit on the territory of Poland – men who are in Poland and Lithuania will be able to sign a contract with the Armed Forces and undergo training in Poland for further service in the Armed Forces. But this will happen exclusively on a voluntary basis.
As the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, reported in December 2024, the Ukrainian Legion in Poland has already received more than a thousand applications. http://surl.li/fxmjzh
