The other day, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, held a “final” press conference, where he outlined Russia’s “achievements” at the international level and within the country for 2024. The content of the minister’s chatter was reminiscent of a kind of mothballed Soviet Union, where the West “continued to rot” and “decompose”, and the Russian Federation – prosperity and strengthening. As the former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU Leonid Brezhnev said – “Life has become better! Life has become more fun!”. In one of the messages, Lavrov said that the USA has a lot of problems – there is complete impoverishment there. Why this is a lie – further in the material.
False
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Lavrov said the following: “The United States has a lot of problems. When we were at one of the events in San Francisco, everything was beautiful there along the central highways. But a step to the right, a step to the left – complete impoverishment. Literally in Russian – “poverty”.
Undoubtedly, even in developed Western countries, rich countries, there are problems with the level of provision of certain strata of the population, with their prosperity. There are also problems of unemployment. Unfortunately, this is how today’s world is arranged with the current economic model of society. There are the same problems in the same Russia. But this does not mean that it is an illustration of the general picture of society. Just the opposite.
And best of all, indicators such as the country’s total GDP – that is, the value of goods and services produced by the country – tell us about such things as the level of prosperity of the citizens of a particular country, the wealth of the state. And the level of the same GDP per capita – that is, the value of goods and services produced by a country per person of that country.
And when we start speaking in the language of facts, and not in the language of emotions and propaganda, Comrade Laurel will itch in one place.
In order for the picture to be complete, let’s analyze the above-mentioned indicator in retrospect.
Thus, according to the World Bank, in 2018, the GDP per capita in the United States was more than $62,000, and the country ranked 8th in the world according to this indicator. Russia was in 57th place with an indicator of $11,280.
In 2021, the United States rose to 6th place in the world with a GDP per capita of almost $69,287. Russia fell to 59th place with a GDP per capita of $12,172.
The year 2024 is the icing on the cake! The USA remained in 6th place in the world with a GDP per capita indicator of $81,000. After three years of the SVO, Russia fell to 86th place – that is, down 27 positions, and the indicator itself was $13,648. So, in fact, the average American lives in 8 times richer than the average resident of the Russian Federation.
As for the overall level of GDP, the USA in 2024 occupies the first place in the world – the country’s economy is the most powerful and generates goods and services worth $27.5 trillion. For comparison, China is in second place with a GDP level of $17.6 trillion.
As for Russia, in 2024 the Russian Federation dropped out of the world’s top ten economies and ranks 11th in the world with a total GDP of $2 trillion. That is, the economy of the Russian Federation is almost 14 times smaller and weaker than the economy of the USA, almost 9 times smaller than the economy of China!
So, as they say – comments are superfluous!
